Adoption is an unselfish act a birth mother does to help her child to have a good stable life. Adoption is for the best interest of the child. There are 4 areas that the child has that will need to be met to kept them healthy and stable . They are the child's physical, social, psychological and emotional needs.
In view of the subject of single parent adoption there are probably many thoughts in favor of this and not in favor of this. PROS
In today's society single parenting is accepted and supported for children's needs. Due to the high divorcee rate in our modern culture single parenting has become a necessity, and even common place. Social support programs give advantages to single parents of today that was not there for single parents of the past. This not only makes single parent adoption possible but also successful.
People may argue that that children all over the world need to be cared for in good homes and adoption is a way to meet the needs of the child as well as the parents need to feel complete and to have purpose. The need for adoption is always there. If a single parent can adopt this would open the doors to help many more children who are in need of family nurturing. If a single adult has the ability to support an adoptive child or children, why not.
CONS
The family is the basic building block of society. Does single parent adoption just add to the same problems as any other single parent family has? And even add to an already heavily burdened social support system. Single parent adoption has at least one less advantage then divorce single families, that is even though the children live in a single parent home environment there may still be support by the other parent such as financial, and physical support. Though divorce has split a family there can still be a mother and father role for the children. Child psychiatrist's suggest that without a mother father role in a child's development there is a gap in meeting a child's psychological development throughout there life.
Single parent adoption may undermine what society has been trying to preserve, that is the basic family unit ...Motherr, father, child. This family unit is supported by most parts of society, for example religious, social, economic believes. A culture can base it's failure by the down fall of the family unit.
